Dive Equipments – Risks And Rewards Of Scuba Diving

For those who love the mountains there is rock climbing and for those who love the oceans, there is scuba diving. Most of the beach towns in the world have scuba diving on their menu and offer their local most exotic views of the ocean world. If you are traveling to Australia, you will get to see the almost stunning eco system under the ocean, which is more famous as the Great Barrier Reef. It supports thousands of marine life and scuba diving is the only way to reach there. Scuba diving allows you to see a completely different world separate from the one you live in.

Just because there is an ocean doesn’t mean that scuba diving is easy. You need to gather as much information possible on scuba diving and regarding the hot spots. And remember, for starters a shark infested colony would be the worst place to scuba dive. Scuba diving will open your eyes to a world that you can only dream of. You can get to see thousands of varieties of fishes, planktons, corals and many others. Some of the best diving sites are in the Bahamas, Australia, Florida, and Mexico, although you can find your own new scuba diving site almost anywhere in the world except Antarctica. There you will end up freezing!

Without proper knowledge and training, diving can be a very dangerous sport. Therefore all commercial diving companies require certification that their customers have completed at least some sort of basic diving course. These courses are available in most of the same areas (and even from the same companies) that offer the actual scuba diving trips. As a trainee, you will head out with professional divers who will take you on multiple training dives. This way, you will become familiar with equipment and techniques, and eventually earn a certificate that will allow you to go on for the more serious dives.

Once you have a diving certificate, the opportunities will be endless. If you want to focus on a particular area, such as ocean life, you can pick a particular spot which is rich in marine life. In some of the scuba diving ventures, you can even swim along with dolphins or other fishes and or get surrounded by schools of fishes. This can be quite exciting and adventurous and probably be the best way to spend your vacation. Alternatively, if you are more interested in exploring, you can go scuba dive around reefs or caves that will provide amazing and unspoiled underwater landscapes for you to enjoy.

There are several risks associated with scuba diving, but with proper training and with good dive equipments you are not likely to encounter them. You need to pay close attention to water pressure during the descent and ascent. You have to time the changes in pressure accordingly in order to avoid injuries. Injuries can include damage to the ears and sinuses. Other problems include hypothermia, which happens in freezing waters as well as problems with pressurized gas. If you take a diving course, you will learn how to handle these issues, as well as how you can prevent them from affecting your dive.

Scuba diving is an immense opportunity and should be enjoyed by everyone at some point in their life. However, it is not something that you can simply go out to the ocean and do. It takes time and preparation to understand the working of the equipment and the basic diving knowledge to keep you safe. Ultimately it is worth the effort, and allows for an ocean experience that you will never forget.

Dive Equipments – Finding The Right Scuba Diving Flippers

Scuba diving is a great recreational activity. It gives a person the opportunity to travel to different resorts, widen his horizons and also get to know more friends with the same interest. Even better, having fun in this activity doesn’t depend on a person’s height or size. Unlike some sports, there is no competition in scuba diving. Just tons of fun!

The sad part of getting into this sport is the need to purchase a lot of expensive gear. This obstacle can easily be surpassed by renting some of the equipment needed for scuba diving. Most people start with the basics: a mask and a pair of scuba diving flippers or some named as Fins.

Flippers for Underwater Mobility

With the variety number of scuba diving flippers in the market, choosing a pair diving flipper can be very confusing. Even worse, as our technology becomes more advanced, the variety of products to choose from becomes greater and greater. And, with the promise of higher durability and efficiency, it is difficult to resist the pull of each product. Making a decision can be very difficult to own a diving flipper.

In order to choose the right scuba diving gear, divers must always think about the function of the dive equipments. Scuba diving flippers or fins, for example, are used to make it easier for a person to move in the water. When choosing a pair, he should pick a type that would make moving underwater more comfortable for him/her.

Scuba Diving Flippers VS Snorkeling Flippers

There are two types of scuba diving flippers in the market: the full foot fins and the open heel fins. The full foot fins are usually used with bare feet. Since they are smaller in size, they cannot give the extra push needed for scuba diving and are usually used for snorkeling. The open heel fins, on the other hand, should be worn with boots. Because these fins are larger and stiffer, it makes moving through the water much easier. Hence, this type of fins is very much recommended for scuba diving.

Scuba Diving Flippers in the Market

Paddle fins are most commonly used by scuba divers. These fins work by moving the water up and down as the diver kicks his feet upward and downward. These can be very helpful when diving through currents.

With the help of Engineering, many improved scuba diving flippers have surfaced in the market. Recently, some companies have created paddle fins that have pivoting blades that can angle to the most efficient position while you kick up and down, giving you a more forceful push. Unfortunately, modifying the conventional angle of these fins can make a person’s kicks lose force in certain positions.

Several types of fins that have splits, cut outs or vents have also emerged in the market. The purpose of these splits and cuts is to help a person swim a longer distance with a lesser effort. When using these flippers, the number of strokes done for a certain distance becomes lesser. A lot of people say that these flippers have made their strokes more powerful.

For a beginner, getting a conventional pair of scuba diving flippers is a very good move. Paddle fins are much cheaper than the modern models available today. The reason for this is that not all divers pursue this activity for a very long time. Scuba diving is very expensive activity and can take a lot of time. By getting a cheap and basic pair of fins, the person wouldn’t waste a lot of money if decides to stop doing this activity. Furthermore, he/she can always buy a new set every time he reaches a higher level in scuba diving. He/she can compare the efficiency of different pairs of scuba diving flippers as he advances in this activity.

Dive Equipments – Scuba Diving can be a truly spectacular hobby

Scuba Diving can be a truly spectacular hobby, and many people now go on holidays especially to go diving in some of the world’s best spots and some go to dive specially looking for some unique fish and coral located only at certain country. What these dive sites have in common are spectacular marine animals, with sharks being a particular favorite, as well as colorful coral and other interesting marine plants.

To go diving, first you need a qualified instructor and access to scuba apparatus. It is a good idea to learn the basics of diving in your home country before you travel a long way to go diving, as you will have more fun in exotic locations if you have at least some idea in advance what you’re doing.

The most popular diving holidays are often ‘liveaboards dive’, which means that you live onboard the dive boat for the entire duration of the trip. This allows you to save both on accommodation and on the cost of diving, as well as being a unique place to stay. However, be careful to travel light, and take a short trip on a boat first to see whether you get seasick you’ll have no fun on a liveaboard dive if you do.

There are lots of other things to be careful of if you do decide to go diving. For one, you need to make sure not to come up too fast, as sudden changes in water pressure can be harmful to the body. You also need to be careful about the heat of the water you dive in (it shouldn’t be drastically different from body temperature), and about wearing a wetsuit to avoid getting stung by the many underwater creatures and plants that can give you a nasty scratch. Don’t worry too much though: as long as you pick a good diving school, your instructor should go through all the risks with you thoroughly, and give you all the equipment and knowledge that you will need to avoid them and to make diving a spectacular hobby of yours.

You sent and train your children as young as fifteen on scuba diving which prepare them for scuba diving certification. However, all those interested to undergo training should fill up a health questionnaire and undergo medical checkups to determine their physical conditions.

Scuba divers have more opportunity to admire the fishery resources and the beautiful of the world, some divers also dive for other reasons such as for scientific, commercial, military or recreational purposes.

It is not encouraged to have scuba diving without a proper certified certification even if they are doing it for fun. Majority of scuba divers do so for recreational purposes but they still have to undergo certification. Recreational divers can choose from a variety of specialization like underwater photography, search and rescue diving or night diving. Once they become experts in diving they can even turn it into a career and become dive masters or underwater photographers.

Dive Equipments – Choosing Your Scuba Dive Equipments

Before taking up scuba diving as a recreational sport, it is important that you get yourself the necessary scuba dive equipments and gears. You may also be able to rent these dive equipments at any dive center but if you are allergic, I strongly suggest you to get your own dive equipments. There are many brand and options available in the market, but if you’re a beginner, it’s best to start from the basics dive equipments such as the mask, fins, snorkel, and weight belt, then after that move on to advanced sets later.

The Basics:

The diving mask, a basic dive equipment that allows you to see underwater through the glass plate in front. Diving masks are designed in such a way that user can breathe out into the mask. This prevents the “squeeze” during the descent caused by pressure. Choose a mask that properly fits your face and forms a seal. Most scuba diving masks come with a rubber or silicone “skirt” that creates a watertight seal with the diver’s face.

The snorkel which normally comes together with the diving mask that let you breathe at the surface without raising your head from the water, and should be no lesser than 30 cms in length.

Fins second important dive gear that allows you to move freely underwater. It should neither be too tight nor too loose which can hamper swimming capabilities, uncomfortable fin can even bring dangerous while taking a dive.

The weight belt helps to maintain your buoyancy, you can consider getting one or rent if you’re a beginner.

Diving suits and what we called Wetsuits and Drysuits provide thermal insulation and prevent complications such as hypothermia. In more simple word, it keeps your body temperature warm or cold during diving. Water conducts heat 25 times faster than air from the body. So, choose a suit depending on how warm or cold your diving water is going to be.

Scuba Sets:

There are two main types of scuba sets open-circuit and closed-circuit.

Most scuba divers use standard air – 21% Oxygen, 79% Nitrogen for their open-circuit scuba sets, which is much more cost-effective than using mixtures such as heliox and trimix. The open-circuit scuba set (also known as Aqualung) itself is quite simple so is also cheaper and more popular than other types. Basically, the user breathes in from the set and out to waste, with the gas cylinder worn on the back. There are 2- and 3 backpack cylinders open-circuit scuba sets available.

Closed-circuit scuba sets use rebreathers. In this system, exhaled air is reprocessed by the rebreather to make it fit for re-inhalation. This can be very economical for people who need to take long dives. The three types of rebreathers include oxygen, semi-closed circuit and fully-closed circuit rebreathers.

Accessories you should consider:

Regulator and Buoyancy Compensator (BC) / Buoyancy Control Device (BCD)
The regulator, which carries the air from your cylinder, should be equipped with a gauge and second mouthpiece. Buoyancy Compensator (BC) / Buoyancy Control Device (BCD), a back-mounted wing or stabilizer jacket, is crucial for neutral buoyancy to control depth.
Dive watch: Electronics like a dive watch comes in quite handy when measuring your time and depth underwater. A dive computer is also available for the same purpose which is more accurate but more expensive.

If you plan to really move head with your scuba diving adventure, consider getting other useful accessories such as underwater light, a surface marker-buoy (SMB), a knife, and a compass etc. Experienced divers, Scuba Dive centers, websites, magazines, etc will all be able to assist you when searching for the right scuba diving equipment and accessories.

Dive Equipments – An Unforgettable Story About Bali Diving

In October 2009 a friend of mine run a travel agent in Bali asked me to handle one of his clients that speak Chinese mandarin, they were from Taiwan and speak a little English. That was my first time to practice as a tour guide. When I met them at Bali International Airport, the first question I must answer was “where is the best place to have scuba diving”. With honesty actually I didn’t know much for scuba diving in Bali, but I promised them for the good news the day after.

Without delay, I visited my friend’s house and meet Jha Jha, a fisherman live in Bali Sanur a village on the southeast coast of Bali. I heard that he was a good fisherman and very smart in shooting fish, diving with his own talent using very simple dive equipments.

We talked about the subject about diving places and in order to discover most enjoyable dive, we must at least visit 2 or 3 different places of the fascinating underwater world among the coral reefs in Bali. Mr. Jha Jha looked at his Balinese calendar to see a good day to go to the sea. My clients were crazy about scuba diving.

The first day he brought us to Semawang at Sanur by his outrigger sail boat. Located in front of Sanur Tourist Beach. Dives at a few meters depth was rewarded by beautiful underwater panoramas, table and trophy shaped coral and sponges, a thousand of colorful fishes swim by in kaleidoscopic profusions. I am not a diver yet, so I just sit on the boat and prepared the needs when they go up. It was a wonderful day as the client said.

The second day Jha Jha brought his companion a smart diver named Agung Toya, together with them some gun (exactly an arrow) unwound by a strong rubber band made of tire, as what he called his dive equipments. Before living Sanur, Jha Jha laid an offering and perfumed incense in front of a temple and prayed to God. Along the road about one and a half our drive, he stopped several times for praying where there are temples for God’s blessing, safety and luck. Even before touching the water he did so. This is one the culture of Balinese.

When we arrived at Buitan, the place was a traditional fishing village, located at the district of Manggis Karangasem eastern Bali near Candidasa, I was amazed by the beauty of the nature, a spectacular panorama or the terraces ricefield, rural ambience and the Majestic Mount Agung at the far back, for Bali it is the place of the Supreme God “The Navel of the World”. The sea was magnificent, clear blue water, remained untouched by modern influences, seduce everyone especially beach and dive lovers. Now Buitan boast a luxury 5 stars hotel and some small accommodations in Balinese style bungalow.

When we were preparing everything for dive a cordial local man came close to us and gave his own wooden boat used for free in the hope of us catching a lot of fish. We sailed at 09.00 a.m in calm sea. About 50 m from the beach we arrived on the coral reef where the wave breaks itself. Under very good weather we could see a wonderful underwater world among the coral reefs.

My Taiwanese clients brought their own dive equipments because they were the holder of PADI license. While the native divers used their own talent. Wow, wow, wow, what a great day, we fished a lot (only selected fish), one thing surprised me that Jha Jha got 4 king lobsters. At 11.00 a.m. we finished our adventure and the local man was waiting us on the beach ready with his woods fire, chili, onions, garlic, salt and coconut oil. We grilled our fish in relax atmosphere on the beach with nice breeze of the ocean, than enjoyed a delicious gala lunch in cowboy style. Wow amazing, we really celebrated and enjoyed a great day.

Now in Bali there are some exciting and fascinating, world renowned dive sites: Nusa Dua, Sanur, Padang Bay, Gili Tapekong, Tulamben, Amed, Nusa Penida and Lembongan and Menjangan Island.

Because of this, I decided to take PADI diver license as well in order to enjoy the beauty of nature.

So if you are a sea and dive lover, Bali is one of your next destination, this enchanting island is waiting for you with its fascinating underwater world. Plan your travel and book your preferred hotel or contact your travel agent. The quickest and the easiest way is, go online and search in google for Bali Dive.
